Hello Darlin, Starting of a Herd

Good morning everyone! The sun is shining here in beautiful New Mexico and we are on our way to a new chapter in our adventures.

So I will take a few minutes to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about our family. My name is Mellissa, I am a wife and a mother to 3 wonderful children. The pandemic hit just about 3 years ago now and it’s been a whirlwind adventure. We were blessed as a family that both my husband and I remained employed the entire time, in-fact improving our careers in the process. My children aren’t babies any more 20,18, and 15 now.

This blog started in an interesting way. I use to blog many years ago, but careers took the time and of course the children. My youngest entered high school this year and has decided to join the FFA program. That was wonderful news to my ears because it was something I really enjoyed when I was in school. She quickly became Greenhand Secretary and joined the food sciences team where they recently were 2nd place team and my daughter earned 9th high individual out of 102 students! My daughter is a kind hearted person and really wanted to join the show world, however the thought of her having to have an animal killed at the end of the season we didn’t think would fit her nature. My wonderful neighbor stepped in and has gifted her two Nigerian Dwarf Goats to start her dairy goat project. So this blog will be the story of her dairy goat adventures and in walks Darlin…
